Picasso's Ghost, by Carole Mallory is an erotic love story about her affair with Claude Picasso, Pablo's son. It features her encounters with Princess Grace, Richard Gere, Peter Seller and Robert De Niro. It is available on Amazon and will be on kindle.
Picasso’s Ghost is a love story about Carole Mallory’s haunting love for Claude Picasso, Pablo’s son. They fall in love on a dance floor while he whirls her around as her heart is lost in the rhythm of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive. She is a supermodel, but does not feel like one due her relationship with her father who is deformed from Parkinson’s Disease.
Claude moves into her apartment and shores up her low self worth. Being on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Newsweek and New York does not fill the void in her left by her father. In 1973, Pablo Picasso dies and Claude and Carole fly to Marseilles to pay their respects. While searching for his tombstone in the graveyard of Vauvenargues, a medieval castle owned by Picasso, Claude asks Carole to be his wife. Carole now feels fulfilled with Claude’s love. In 1974, Claude's mother, Francoise Gilot buys her a wedding dress. In 1975, Carole portrays one of the wives in Stepford Wives. Carole now begins to feel as though Claude is forcing her to audition for his love. He is stalling about setting a wedding date. She is losing her will to live. In 1975, she calls home to speak to her father when her mother says that her father tried to commit suicide. Carole leaves Claude, saying, "You’re doing to me what your father did to your mother," and takes his t-cup poodle whom he had begun kicking and flies back to their apt in NY. The only place she can rekindle her fighting spirit. Her agent calls to say Columbia Pictures wants her to test for a film. There will be nudity. She needs to work to survive.
She is chosen over 1500 women to test for The Fan Club and moves to Hollywood. With a broken heart she dates stars, Peter Sellers, Robert De Niro, Richard Gere. All the while longing for Claude. Finally he visits her in Hollywood and they make love that is as erotic as the first time they met. Claude tells Carole, “I’ve met a woman in Paris who reminds me of you only she likes Paris.” When Claude leaves, he says,” Maybe I’ll call you and we’ll get married in Vegas, bebe.” A few months later he marries the other woman. Carole bottoms out as an alcoholic. Tutu their t-cup poodle dies and she prays to him nightly until she learns to believe in a god of her choosing. She calls Claude to tell him Tutu died and that she is an alcoholic. "That explains it," he says and she feels forgiveness setting in.
Three years later she meets Norman Mailer and enters into an inappropriate relationship with him. She is still wounded by Claude’s rejection. When this affair ends, she meets a much younger man in suburban Philadelphia and marries him. They are now friends. Today Carole teaches creative writing at Rosemont College and Temple.
Picasso's Ghost is an exciting, erotic read and will make the reader root for Carole’s finally finding happiness by teaching others to write with honesty about their feelings and to cherish experience above all else.
